Il Notturno...
It was inspired by a piece of the lyrical prose Il Notturno, "In pain among men," in which d'Annunzio during a military operation carried out on board of a seaplane was injured in a ditching.
A long period of treatments followed, during which the poet was forced blindfolded to an almost total immobility. The work was written in a period of great suffering and folding inward and has soft tones, melancholic evocations of the past and meditations on the fate of man.
Hence the choice of dull colours, from black to gray cement, from silver to gray musk.
